On Going Activities: Project Advisory Committee Meeting: The first meeting of project advisory committee was held on 25th & 26th August 2000 at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. The advisory committee comprise of best of technological & administrative minds besides NGO's. Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, IIT Chennai, Prof. S. Verma, IIMA, Prof Brij Kothari, Prof Vijay Sherry Chand, IIMA and Pradeep K. Dubey (IBM lab at IIT Delhi), Prof. Rajeev Sangal IIIT, Hyderabad are amongst members of the committee. Touch Screen Kiosk: The testing of touch screen interface for the kiosk has been done. Kiosks had been put up at Indian Science Congress 2001 at New Delhi and at Udyog Darshan, Ahmedabad. Besides mobile Multimedia database was demonstrated in various villages of Gujarat & Maharastra during biannual event of Sristi known as Shodh Yatra. The response of users was very good. Further improvement based on the inputs on interface are underway. Development of "KnowNet-Grin" model: Knowledge network model has been tested in IIMA. More nodes will be placed in specific location in IIMA (Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad) campus and will be tested by various stakeholders for its interactivity and user interface. Development of Multimedia / Multilingual Database: Honey Bee collaborators in India, spread across various states have been given the responsibility to convert the existing database in there own respective languages and English, and document the same in a specified format. Funds have been made available to two of these collaborators in Kannada & Tamil languages, there first month report is expected by the mid of next month. Nodes in Gujarat: First Kiosk have been put in some places in Gujarat on testing. The location of the nodes are Modasa, Dharampur, Paharpur, Amirgarh, Nardipur. After suitable design solution and testing its interactivity the model would be up scaled for the online network in Gujarat state on other nodes.
Discussions: Negotiations are going on with probable partners in the project who would support some of the components of project activities. Also contact has been established on the availability of private network of kiosk's for our requirement. One
such partner is Drishtee.com Bhopal with whom an MOU have been signed. |
