Supporting Organization for Phase I InfoDev Project: World Bank - Information for Development The Information for Development Program (infoDev) began in September 1995 with the objective of addressing the obstacles facing developing countries in an increasingly information-driven world economy. It is a global grant program managed by the World Bank to promote innovative projects on the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) for economic and social development, with a special emphasis on the needs of the poor in developing countries. Other Initiatives: Other ICT & Development related projects Knowledge Networking programs having an international focus are being funded by multilateral/bilateral organizations, development agencies and collaborative networks. Many other development agencies such as UK’s Department of International Development (DFID), Japan’s International Corporation Agency (JICA), or Swedish International Development Corporation Agency (SIDA) are also involved in supporting Networking Initiatives on a case-by-case basis.
